How to Read Character: a New Illustrated Hand Book of Phrenology and Physiognomy, for Students and Examiners; with Descriptive Charts
by Samuel R. Wells
Published by Fowler And Wells Co. New York 1896 Hardcover
Book/DJ Condition: F+ 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 193+ ad pp; Green cloth boards, black title and ornament decoration in relief, the same relief on the rear board but without any color. Gilt spine. May be the finest available copy of this vintage. Book is near perfect and could almost pass for a new book if the pages were not slightly ivory in color. Book must of been packed away when new. No handwriting, spine is tight, and cover is crisp, bold, and no wear is noted. One of the best conditions we've seen of any book of this vintage. Many Illustrations, diagrams and charts on how to read the character and personality of people by the bumps on their head and the different featuers that make up their face. This was a fairly highly thought of medical practice at the turn of the century. The "Delineation of the Character chart" has not even been filled out.
