Book/DJ Condition: NF 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 172 pp; Translated from the German by Margaret Goldsmith. German Depression Era novel of the struggle of the desperate fishermen of St. Barbara, "who strike, starve, fail, and go back to toil for a wage that is still to leave their wives and children hungry". Made into the 1934 black and white mono-sound Solviet Union film directed by Erwin Piscator and starring Aleksei Dikij and Sergei Martanson. Bright and tight. Only handwriting is an underlined "10" in red pencil inside front cover. Very litte wear on boards though back has a flat spot in the design.
